Mariah Carey may be the queen of Christmas music, but Lacey Chabert is the queen of Christmas movies. Known for playing the violin virtuoso on “Party of Five” as a child, and later “trying to make it happen” as Gretchen Wieners in the classic “Mean Girls,” this holiday season, the actress born in Mississippi, based in LA. is starring in her first YuleTide movie for Netflix (airing Nov. 13, “Hot Frosty,” where a snowman magically arrives and helps her character through the grief of losing her husband) and fifteenth for the Hallmark Channel (“The Christmas Quest,” in which she plays an archaeologist on a treasure-hunting adventure through Iceland, premiering Dec. 1.) She also headlines the Christmas Con, in Edison, NJ, December 14-15.
When she’s not enjoying holiday movies, Chabert’s favorite winter tradition is being in the kitchen surrounded by family, cooking up her favorite dish, sweet potato casserole, and trying to emulate her famous cake recipes. her late grandmother’s coconut and banana pudding.
